PHOENIX, AZ – After purchasing the social simulation game Animal Crossing: New Horizons in March, a local Arizona woman has decided to cut back on playing Animal Crossing to eight hours a day instead of ten as a way to save time.
Paula Schem, 26, has played Animal Crossing approximately ten hours a day since March, which has resulted in her losing her job, relationship, and potential future. After coming to a realization of what she’s doing with her life, Schem realized a change needed to happen.
“My life began to drastically alter since Animal Crossing came out. I dedicate almost half of my time each day to the game and it’s consumed who I am. Although some might look at me as crazy, I think I can free up some time by only cutting two hours off of my daily Animal Crossing sessions,” said Schem.
Despite Schem’s optimism about her potential transition into playing Animal Crossing slightly less, friends and family of Schem feel she needs to completely cut the game out of her life.
“All of her pets have died because of this game. She stares at the screen every day and does nothing, but dedicates herself to the game. It’s sad because she had such a bright future ahead of her,” said Schem’s mother Stacy.
