RIVERSIDE, CA – After hearing Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Want to Have Fun for the first time, a local California man is wondering when guys can have fun, not fully getting the point of the song.
James Eli, 33, isn’t very aware of music history and barely listens to anything in his free time besides the few CDs his father left him when he was a child. Eli recently heard the classic Girls Just Want to Have Fun, while being totally unsure about the meaning of the track.
“I get the point of the song being fun and all, but can guys have fun? The song only states that girls should have fun, and I don’t think that’s fair. It’d make more sense if we all had fun instead of girls,” said Eli while munching on an apple too loudly.
“At least it’s a song that’s catchy and fun, but still, why is it so popular? I never heard it before and I really don’t get why the lyrics are like that. Oh well, maybe I’m wrong, but probably not.”
Eli’s wife, Jessica, feels Eli overthinks most things, especially whenever something doesn’t revolve around him. Adding how he’s an ‘airhead’ most of the time, highlighting his inability to know the difference from something being normal or not.
“I understand his point about the song only talking about girls wanting to have fun, but he needs to understand that it’s just a song. He needs to stop overthinking and take a chill pill,” said Jessica Eli.
