Man Suing Deer for Hitting His Truck a Few Miles Pass the ‘Watch Out for Deer for the Next 3 Miles’ Sign
LAKE PLACID, NY – A local man is suing a deer for damages sustained to his truck after he claims the deer hit his truck miles after he passed the ‘watch out for deer for the next 3 miles’ sign.
“I was a good 5 or 6 miles past that sign when that bastard ran out onto the road and hit my truck, causing thousands in damages. The sign clearly states to watch out for deer for the next 3 miles, not the next 5 or 6 miles, so he should’ve known better,” said 56-year-old Randy Ricksmith.
The deer, 4-year-old Fred Deere, is countersuing both Ricksmith for physical and psychological damages caused by the crash and also New York State for putting up these signs telling deer where they can and cannot cross roads.
“My family, friends, and I are just sick and tired of the prejudice and segregation we face on a daily basis with these signs telling us where we are allowed to cross roads. All of these signs should be removed immediately,” said Deere.
